Ubud Arts Village, Tirta Empul Tampaksiring and Goa Gajah
Start your day with a morning walk around the artists’ village, Ubud. Explore the different art galleries, the traditional art market and Padang Tegal monkey sanctuary. Your lunch will be served at local restaurant. Drive up to Tampaksiring and visit a beautiful holy spring temple, Tirta Empul Temple, which showcases sample of Balinese cultural site situated next to the Presidential Palace. On to Goa Gajah, a significant Hindu archaeological site in Bedulu.
Goa Gajah is locally known as the Elephant Cave because of its close proximity to the Elephant River. A mysterious cave, relics, and ancient bathing pools set amid green rice paddies and a garden lure tourists from all over the world. The menacing entrance to Goa Gajah looks like a demonic mouth, suggesting that people are entering an underworld as they venture inside through the darkness. Dating back to the 11th century the site is tentatively nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage.
