Bali, Indonesia – 9 June 2026 – A group of Communication Studies students from Hasanuddin University, Makassar, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Muh. Akbar and Dr. Kahar, recently visited Melali Bali Group as part of an educational industry immersion programme designed to bridge academic learning with real-world business practices.
Hosted at The Lotus Building in Bali, the visit provided participants with valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, destination management, event production, tourism marketing, and the growing role of digital transformation in the visitor economy.
During the session, Dr. Ketut Jaman, Managing Director of Melali Bali Group, presented the company’s integrated business ecosystem and shared perspectives on how successful events and tourism programmes today require seamless collaboration across multiple sectors. He highlighted that modern conferences, incentive programmes, exhibitions, and international meetings increasingly depend on the effective integration of event management, destination services, transportation, hospitality, audiovisual production, technology solutions, digital marketing, and skilled human resources.
Students were introduced to the diverse business units that form the Melali Bali Group ecosystem, including:
- Melali MICE – Professional Conference Organizer (PCO)

A dedicated session on Incentive Travel Management was delivered by Ni Ketut Sophiani, Sales Manager of Melali Bali DMC. She shared practical insights into the design and execution of corporate incentive programmes, covering destination planning, experience design, supplier coordination, hospitality management, logistics operations, and participant engagement.
Drawing on real-world case studies, Sophiani explained how incentive travel has evolved beyond traditional reward trips into strategic tools for employee recognition, motivation, team building, and organizational performance. She also highlighted Bali’s continued position as one of Asia-Pacific’s leading destinations for incentive travel, corporate retreats, and executive gatherings.
The discussion further explored the growing importance of communication skills, creativity, service excellence, cultural understanding, and stakeholder management in delivering memorable participant experiences—competencies increasingly sought after within the global events and tourism industry.
An interactive question-and-answer session allowed students to engage directly with industry practitioners and gain deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of MICE, destination management, and tourism development.

Speaking during the session, Dr. Ketut Jaman emphasized that future professionals will need more than academic knowledge to succeed in a rapidly changing business environment. Skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, leadership, adaptability, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship will play a vital role in preparing graduates for careers within the global events and tourism sectors.
The educational visit concluded with a networking session and group photograph, symbolizing the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in developing the next generation of tourism, events, and communication professionals.
Through initiatives such as this, Melali Bali Group continues to support knowledge sharing and industry engagement while contributing to the development of skilled human capital for Indonesia’s growing MICE, tourism, and creative economy sectors.
