Government Regulation (PP) No. 60 of 2017 governs the licensing and supervision procedures for public gatherings, other community activities, and political event notifications. This regulation took effect on 29 December 2017, and consists of 8 chapters and 27 articles.
Once the application is submitted, the police will conduct a verification process. If all requirements are met, the permit will be issued. Organizers who have obtained a permit must conduct the event in accordance with the conditions stated in the permit and ensure safety and order throughout the event.
The primary objective of this regulation is to provide legal certainty and guidelines for event organizers to conduct their activities in an orderly and safe manner. Additionally, it aims to maintain public order and security.
Event organizers falling under the categories stated above are required to obtain a permit from the police. To secure a permit, organizers must submit an application along with several required documents, including:
The regulation covers the following types of activities:
This event permit must be processed in stages, starting from the local police sector (Polsek), district police (Polres), regional police (Polda), and the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri).
Law enforcement authorities have the right to oversee the event’s implementation. If any violations of the permit conditions are found, the organizers may face sanctions, including warnings, reprimands, permit revocation, or even event termination.
With the enactment of Government Regulation No. 60 of 2017, it is expected that all activities involving the public can proceed safely, orderly, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
