The Bali International Convention Center in Nusa Dua was the venue of the 2nd United Nations Regional Tourism Conference on the Empowerment of Women in Tourism in Asia and the Pacific, bringing together 450 participants from 42 countries. This landmark event, spearheaded by Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (MTCE) with the support of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, underscored the vital role of women in shaping quality, inclusive, and sustainable tourism. The conference opened with an address from Mr. Harry Hwang, Director of the Regional Department for Asia and the Pacific at UN Tourism, setting the stage for impactful discussions. A highlight of the event was the inspiring speech delivered by H.E. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Indonesia’s Minister of MTCE, who emphasized the transformative power of women in driving international tourism growth, championing sustainable practices, and elevating the creative economy from local communities to the global stage. The conference also welcomed esteemed leaders, including H.E. Angela Tanoesoedibjo, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of MTCE; H.E. Thet Thet Khine, Myanmar’s Minister of Tourism; H.E. Mariyam Nasheetha Nasheed, Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Maldives; and Mr. Dewa Made Indra, Regional Secretary of Bali Province. This collaborative event celebrated women’s pivotal contributions to tourism and creative industries, inspiring collective action for a brighter, more inclusive future.
