Denpasar Heritage City Tour
Join a half day City Tour visiting some interesting heritages in Denpasar, the capital of Bali. Visit Puputan Badung Square an urban park with a very tragic and violent history. More than 100 years ago it was the site of an enormous, bloody puputan, or mass suicide ritual
It is an interesting location to learn more about the history of the Balinese and their struggles against the Dutch colonizers. Bali Museum was established in 1932 and is located next to Puputan square.
The museum has the finest collections of Balinese antiquities. The stylistic simplicity of the items in its 30 collection is of particular interest. Next to the museum is Jagatnata Temple, a Hindu place for worship. The temple is beautifully designed and full of religious and artistic ornaments. Visit Pasar Badung traditional market and witness the locals following their daily business. In Kumbasari Market you may find plenty of Balinese handicrafts and cloths.
Proceed to Puri Jero Kuta, one of great royal family houses in Denpasar. Take a walk through Jalan Gajah Mada, an old shopping area in town, which is listed as the heritage area of the city because of its authentic, old-school architectural style of the buildings.
Make a photo stop at the Catur Muka (four face) statue, the Landmark of Denpasar. On the way back to your hotel, stop at the Bajra Sandhi Monument in Renon, a symbol of Bali’s struggle for independence once the Dutch colonizers had left the country.
